v34.x.x

Released: May 17, 2026, 1:09 AM

This version was a strange one. It never made it to a convention and it was only played in private games, but it introduced a lot of new concepts that make the game a lot easier to play and a lot easier to run.

Mom! The playbooks are all strange!

The biggest change is streamlining all of the playbooks. In the end, players would generally ignore big parts of their Background and only focus on one or two Abilities in a Background, and a lot of the abilities were copies of other Abilities.

In v34.x.x I reduced the number of Abilities, made them all independent from the Background so the players could just pick the Abilities they found interesting and not have any dead Abilities that were included in a Background.

It’s not a perfect system, but it is a start.

The Background issue

The Backgrounds are still strange though. Backgrounds don’t contribute much to the game now other than context, which is an interesting concept, but it can be hard for a GM to use on the fly, and there is no actual mechanic to help GM’s out.
